Helping hand.

Okay. So I felt really inspired to write about this since this has been on my mind lately. I also know you all really enjoy these types of posts every now and again. So here it goes.

I feel like I am constantly going all of the time. With work, grad school, planning a wedding, trying to find time to visit family that lives hours away, and not feeling like I’m letting people down.. I feel like I spread myself pretty thin most days. I have such a hard time asking people for help whenever I am feeling overwhelmed. I am not talking just financially.. I’m also talking emotionally, spiritually, and physically. I am not sure why I give myself such a hard time about asking for help. I don’t really want to burden people with any issues I have. I think a lot of us feel this way at one point or another and that is why I decided to write this. I can’t even tell you how many times I have felt so overwhelmed and praying that I won’t lose my mind. I have family and friends who offer help/advice/whatever it may be, but I always tend to say “I got this.” or “I’ll be fine. I promise.” Which is so true. God has never faced me with something I haven’t made it through.

But, my problem that I am facing with the whole asking for help issue is that I don’t understand why I have such a negative connotation with asking for help. I think in my mind I associate needing help with being weak. And that is not the case at all. It’s kind of interesting to me that if any of my friends or family ask for my help with something, I don’t think of them as needy or weak.. I just help them. So, why can’t I ask for help. I don’t know. I’m a work in progress. I just needed to write about how I’m feeling because I know there are people out there who feel the same way. And I don’t think its a bad thing to ask for help. If someone loves you.. a friend, family member, significant other.. whoever it may be, if they love you they will not question helping you. I am slowly realizing this and asking for help instead of felling alone when I get so overwhelmed. Anyways, I know this post was all over the place, but I hope this resonated with at least one of you. Make sure to let me know your thoughts in the comments section or my Facebook/instagram pages. I would love to hear your thoughts. Happy Wednesday sweet friends. XOXO.

August Favorites: Beauty, Skincare, and Fashion.

Hello September!

This year has literally flown by. I just don’t know where the time has gone. It’s been difficult finding time to post between work, obtaining my Master’s, and finishing Game of Thrones…(Thanks Valerie). If anyone else really likes GOT, let me know so we can talk about it. I know many people aren’t interested in it and I used to be someone who said I would never watch it, but here I am almost to season 7. Seriously though, I just don’t want to post stuff that I don’t truly love talking about just to keep with a schedule. I like to bring you content that I enjoy because I think that shows and makes my readers enjoy it anymore. Last night I showed two products that I have been loving on my Instagram stories. So I decided why not do a August favorites since I haven’t done a favorites blog post in a while.

I have had quite a few favorites this month that I am absolutely loving. Something I have been obsessed with lately is skincare. I haven’t bought much makeup because I really just want to step up my skincare game. I will talk about all of my monthly favorites, not just skincare so don’t worry.

The first product I have been loving is the Sunday Riley UFO acne face oil. The oil is a dark green color and comes with a dropper. So I just dab this on any problem areas and tap it in with my fingers. I don’t rub it in just because I don’t want the oil all over my face. I like to specifically concentrate it on any breakouts. I do have an oily t-zone, so don’t worry if you are like “Oh I can’t put oil on my skin because my skin tends to be oily”.. seriously don’t worry. Just add it to any problem areas and let it sit over night and you’re golden. It doesn’t necessarily clear it up overnight, but it reduces any redness and keeps it from getting worse.

The next product is the Clinique moisture surge moisturizer. I love this moisturizer because it is so light and makes my skin look healthy and glowy. I like to apply this in the morning before primer and again at night after I have toned my face. A little goes a long way and it won’t leave you feeling greasy.

Moving on, the Belif Witch hazel toner is one of my most loved products right now. It isn’t like other toners I have and have used in the past. It doesn’t burn your skin and the consistency isn’t really thin. I like to take a cotton pad and tap it all over my skin after I have cleansed it to make sure no makeup is left behind and to remove any excess oil before I apply any skincare to my skin. You seriously need to try this if you are looking for a good toner.

This tool I have been using is amazing. I got this kit from Real Techniques that is called the under eye reviver. I LOVE THIS TOOL. It feels cool on your skin and I usually use this when I am adding my moisturizer. It just feels so good on the skin and honestly makes my skin feel tighter. I bought this towards the end of August, but this has been a favorite ever since. I actually bought it in the prep and prime kit.

Two of my clothing favorites are these BP long sleeve tees from Nordstrom. They are 19$ and so soft. I like them because they are light enough to wear on warmer days, but they can be layered easy as well. I ended up buying it in two of the four colors because I ended up loving it so much. Definitely wanting the other two colors as well just because it is such a great staple layering piece for your wardrobe.

Lastly, my favorite shoes have been these mule/loafer shoes. I now have three pairs, but these are my favorite. I love how easy they are to slide on and go and I like how it makes a outfit look a bit more dressy. Really love these and I need them in more colors.

Hope you all have a great Labor Day weekend. XOXO

My Holy Grail Face Mask.

I love face masks. There is just something about putting a mask on that makes you feel so pampered and relaxed. I like masks that actually make it feel like it is cleaning my pores out. I found this mask at Ulta months ago and I have been obsessed with it ever since. I try to do this once a week and if I am having more skin issues than usual, I will use it at least two times that week. I don’t usually wear a lot of makeup on an everyday basis. Just a light layer of foundation, blush, bronzer, and mascara. Literally so simple to put on and head out of the door. But sometimes your pores just seemed clogged or it’s that time of the month and your skin just needs a refresh.

I like to apply a even layer all over my face and then let it sit for about 10 minutes or until it is fully dry. It definitely makes your skin feel tighter and so clean whenever you remove it. It is about $15, but it will last you a long time. Anytime I have breakouts, I like to use this at night and after the next morning, it seems like my skin is less oily and the breakouts are less prominent. You seriously need to try this stuff out. I would be careful if you have super sensitive skin because it does deep clean your pores and will leave you with reddish skin if you are super sensitive. My skin will be a little red, but goes away within a few minutes. I highly recommend this product.

LOVING these items for transitioning in to Fall. This choker tee is so perfect and I love the color. It can easily be paired with a cute sweater or leather jacket to make it a little warmer in cooler weather. Also, this layered necklace was $6.90 from Forever 21. I love affordable pieces that are so versatile. Lastly, this liquid lip from Urban Decay vice in the shade amulet. Definitely need to try it out.

Casual Outfit

I love a casual and comfortable look. I’m really into distressed denim and loafer/mules right now, so of course they were both a part of my casual outfit. Plus, I love that the pieces are so basic and can be worn in different ways to give it a new look. Everything is linked below like usual. Hope you all enjoy and have a great weekend.

This look is casual, but I think the loafer/mule slip on shoes and the sleeve detail dress this look up a bit. I just layered some necklaces, added my favorite watch and that was literally it. Exact shirt linked here.

Fall items you NEED

Fall is my favorite season. I love that it is the perfect temperature. Not too hot and not too cold. Just perfect. I love all of the Fall candles and pumpkin muffins. All of the rich orange colors throughout Fall are just so appealing to me. Anyways, I decided to do a post even though it has been pretty warm.. I just can’t help shopping for Fall items. I really like basics that I can wear multiple ways and I found this B.P. side slit long sleeve from Nordstrom and I am in love. It is 19$ and it comes in a ton of colors. It is oversized so keep that in mind when ordering, but I just love all of the colors and I am trying not to order every color.

I am loving the long vest trend this year. I think it is such a basic piece to have and it can complete a look. I just really like how it looks with skinny jeans and the slip on mules/loafers that are such a big thing for Fall. I love mine and want a black and burgundy pair too. They are so comfy and pair so easily with so many outfits. I am actually obsessed with the slip on mules/loafers.

Another thing I am loving is the Free People high rise denim. And this olive shade for Fall is so pretty. Yes, Free people is more expensive, but the quality is so good. I am more into quality over quantity. I would rather have a few nice items in my closet than a bunch of cheaper items that won’t last as long. That’s why I don’t spend a whole lot on trendy items that I know I won’t wear for a long time. That is why I stick to more neutral shades in my wardrobe.

I also really like maxi/midi dresses for Fall. You can get so many styles, prints, and colors and pair them with your favorite bootie or heel and you are set. I love wearing longer dresses because it doesn’t take much thought, but you have a whole outfit at once. I love it. I have linked some cute options as well.

Another must have for Fall is a cute baseball cap. I love this hat that says Saturday. I live for the weekend. And the Blush color and the distressed look of the hat is right up my alley. I LOVE IT!

I hope you enjoyed my must have items for Fall. Who else is excited for cooler weather and pumpkin spiced everything? Have a great rest of the week everyone.

You don’t need them anymore.

I have gained friends and lost friends over the course of 22 years. And I know I will gain and lose friends over the next 22. That is just life. We grow apart, we make life changes that don’t involve some people, and we sometimes just stop liking people and that is OKAY. I am not a perfect friend, fianc√©, daughter, sister, cousin, etc. I will admit that. But I have never stopped trying to improve.

I am the type of person who gives and believes in second chances. I believe people make mistakes and I also believe that if God is willing to grant us forgiveness then shouldn’t we forgive others? There just not much someone could do to me that I can’t eventually forgive and move on from. But sometimes forgiveness and second chances doesn’t always mean that these people need to stay in your life long-term necessarily. That’s what I want to talk about in this blog post because it has been on my mind so much lately.

Someone who only is around for the good times in life is not someone you want to keep around long-term. Life isn’t always peachy and life will not be perfect. Whoever this person is in your life that literally disappears when you just need to vent or you are having a rough patch.. maybe they aren’t needed in this season of your life. They may not be able to show sympathy because they have never been shown sympathy from others. Or they may just not care. That is something you may never know and that is okay. It is better to not waste energy on someone who doesn’t put energy into your friendship, relationship, etc. Yes, you can tell them how you feel, but if they don’t make a change or even try.. maybe it is time to lean on someone else for support if that is what you need.

A friend, S/O, or even family member who constantly doesn’t support you even with something you really believe in probably doesn’t deserve to be in your life. I don’t mean supporting financially. I mean supporting your dreams, beliefs, and goals. It is so okay to disagree, but if someone truly loves and respects you and that dream belief or goal isn’t life threatening, they should want to support and love you. Because that is what close friends, significant others, and family members are for. Whether you agree with what they do, the decisions they make in life, or whatever else it may be you always support the people you care about in my opinion.

I have been a friend who only hangs out or talks to someone when it’s convenient for me. Reflecting on that friendship I feel terrible about that now. But that person didn’t need me in their life long-term because I wasn’t the friend they needed at times and I realize that now. I wasn’t a good friend and they didn’t need me in her life considering she had other friends that were more present in her life. Moving forward, I have made changes to try to be more present in my friends life. I was one of the friends that wasn’t needed anymore. And that is okay because other people will change and you may be the friend they cut out of their life. You have to respect that and move on if they have made it clear that they don’t want you in your life.

Lastly, I don’t think you need someone who is constantly draining. If they are always complaining and they never have anything positive to say, you will eventually start to become like that. And who wants to be depressed or negative all of the time? Life is too short to always see the glass half empty. You can find good in most things and I truly believe that. I am not saying it’s easy to find a positive side. You definitely have to want that, but some people don’t look at life like that. I am not saying that is wrong, but I don’t want to live my life always complaining. You have to make a conscious effort to think positive and if someone in your life can’t support that and they are still always negative.. it is time to move on from that person no matter who it is.

I think the list could be longer but these are the few kinds of people that you don’t need in your life. I believe it is okay to miss that friendship, relationship, or whatever it may be.. but I do think it is important to evaluate and remember why you don’t need them in your life. I know this was a different kind of post than I usually make, but I think it needed to be posted. Thanks everyone for reading. Hope you have a great week.

(P.S. This look will be on the Blog Friday!)

Nordstrom Sale item dupes

So, some of the items I wanted had already sold out on the Nordstrom site. I went on a mission to find similar pieces for hopefully even cheaper. I did just that and I am excited to share them with you. Not many items, but if you liked any of these below, it might help you. Shop everything below!

The first item is the B.P cardigan which was on sale for 31.90 (sold out now). Old Navy has a very similar style to the oatmeal one I wanted for $20 since they are having a 30% off sale. So that’s super exciting. I bought the tan and black colors because they are perfect for me to wear to work and a great price.

Another item I really wanted, but couldn’t get my hands on in time is the Lush side split tee. This was so popular in the NSALE, but I found a few similar options all under $10. I ordered this in white just to have a loose fit basic white tee. I like that it has the same side slits so its a little longer in the back. It cost me $8.40.

The Halogen loafers that are still in stock for $60 for the Nordstrom sale, I just didn’t want to spend the $60 dollars on something I wouldn’t wear every day. (It is still in stock, but limited sizes on nordstrom.com) So, I found these from Lulus for $22 and they are so similar except one is suede and the other has the leather look. I love them and I am glad I didn’t spend the $60. You can find the Lulu’s loafers here.

Lastly, I really liked the look of the 1.state perforated cut out bootie from the sale (Still in stock on Nordstrom website in most sizes), but I wasn’t going to pay the $90. So, I found one from target that has a very similar look that is $35!! Such a great deal.

Thanks for reading everyone!

My all time favorite Lippies

I love lip products. I have way too many that I need to get rid of. I have a set amount that I rotate through. As you can see in the pictures, they are basically the same tones. These shades just seem to go well with my skin tone so I stick with this shade range. I will be adding swatches below.

I know their is a love/hate with Kylie Cosmetics.. but I really like the matte liquid lip in the shade candy k. It appears to be a darker nude on my lips and I really like it. It says you only need one swipe if you don’t want it to feel drying. I do that and it lasts a long time on me and doesn’t dry my lips out. I really like this liquid lip, but I would probably stick to the liquid lip only. You don’t really need the lip pencil. You can usually match them pretty easy to drugstore lip liners. The lip kit is 29 and the liquid lip alone is $17. Click here to purchase exact product!

My next favorites are the Wet n Wild mega last liquid catsuit matte lipstick. I have this in two shades: Pink really hard and Nudist peach. I LOVE these lippies. They feel so good on your lips and they are long lasting. They do have a good range of shades and since they are so affordable, you can buy way more than just one of the Kylie matte singles. Definitely recommend these if you are looking for an affordable long lasting matte liquid lip.

This smashbox be legendary lipstick in the shade Safe Word is probably my favorite lipstick. I love the formula. It isn’t long lasting and does transfer since it’s a lipstick. My mom and I actually were shopping at Ulta and found this shade and we both wanted it. Luckily they had two left and we both bought it. It is one of those shades that really goes with any look you are going for. I love it.

I am not sure what happened to my full size Kat Von D everlasting liquid lip, but I kept them both in the same purse and now I can’t find the full size. But I got the sample size in a Sephora box and I am so glad because I was almost out of my full size one. It is in the shade Lovesick. It definitely is a pink shade, but has some purple tones coming through. I really like this if I am wanting a brighter lip. This is a great formula and doesn’t transfer if you let it completely dry. She also has so many shades! Exact product here!

Another favorite lip product is from The Balm’s meet Matt(e) Hughes collection in the shade committed. I received this in a Ipsy bag forever ago and it is probably my favorite out of all of these lip products. I am pretty much completely out of this. I need to order another, but just never have since I have other lip products I like. This product is just the perfect shade in my opinion for me. It doesn’t really look like I have a lip product on. And it has a minty scent which I really like.

Lastly, the Trestique matte lip crayon is another lippie that has been a favorite for awhile. I received this in a sephora box a while ago and it is in the shade Nantucket Nude. It applies easily, but keep in mind it will transfer. Lip crayons aren’t everyones favorite, but this is a real gem in my opinion.

Lastly, I wanted to share the Palladio lip liner that I love that goes with so many of my lip products. I got it at Ulta for like $2 and it feels so moisturizing on my lips and glides on so easily. Definitely check this lip liner out. It is so affordable and they have so many shades.

Hope you enjoyed my favorite lippie products. If you try any out, let me know. Or let me know your favorite lip products!

Shein clothing haul!

I love shopping at Shein so much. It is time consuming to search through their massive website, but if you find some good items then it is worth it. I needed some new blouses for my job and decided to check it out. I have ordered so many times from Shein because they have great pieces that are modeled after some expensive pieces. I don’t ever buy expensive clothing that I may not wear for years. So, I wanted to find blouses under 15$ each. The first time I ever shopped on Shein, I found a dress I loved and ordered it. Well turns out it was a see through dress. Literally no lining. So I went back to read the comments/reviews and sure enough it said to not buy it because it is see through. I learned my lesson and I feel if you read the reviews on what other people say about that piece, you will be golden.

The first item I purchase was this fluted sleeve gingham print smock blouse. I was worried about the quality of all of these, but they are all so nice for the price point. This shirt fit so well on me when I tried it on and I like the print it comes in. This top was $10. You can see below how I will style this for work and casual outings.

The next item that I purchased is probably my favorite out of the whole haul. It is this gorgeous bell sleeve pearl embellished blouse. I love how this feels and how it looks on. I absolutely love this look. It was $14, which was the highest priced top I bought. The pearls aren’t cheaply made either. They feel like they are attached tightly and they are a heavier pearl than a cheap pearl you might think would be on there for the price. I really like this blouse. I actually saw a similar more expensive shirt that looked exactly like this on either Zara or Asos.. I can’t remember which one. This also comes in yellow.

Next, I got this black chiffon blouse. It is just a simple blouse that would pair great with any color blazer or even paired with your favorite accessories. I like simple blouses like this because you can create so many different outfits with this. The fabric is so nice and I believe this was only $10. Another great find that will be so versatile.

I got this simple white blouse simply because I really liked the sleeves. It has this insert detail that adds so much to the top. I also think it is easy to dress it up or down in the Fall/Winter seasons. But I am excited to wear this where you can see the sleeves while it is still very warm. This blouse was also $10 and great quality.

Lastly, I purchased this navy frill top. I think this is so cute and so versatile as well. I like the way the top feels on and it is so easy to style in different ways which is what I like. This blouse was $12. I love that all of the tops I purchased can be styled so many different ways and I look for that when buying pieces. I don’t want one trendy piece that I can’t wear multiple ways. Pieces like that don’t really last in my wardrobe because after one or two times wearing the piece, it isn’t as trendy as before and I don’t get much use out of it after.

Just remember to always read the reviews/comments at the bottom of each piece of clothing you are looking at to gauge whether it will be a good purchase for you.

I am also including other pieces I have purchased that haven’t come in just yet from boohoo.com.
